Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into postgraduate programmes of the Centre for Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering, University of Port Harcourt for the 2022/2023 academic session, leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, and Master’s Degrees

PGD in Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering
PGD

Aim
The PostGraduate Diploma (PGD) in Geotechnical & Coastal Engineering programme is aimed at preparing and training interested students to the requisite level of advanced studies, hence, bridging the gap between the undergraduate and the post graduate levels of studies.

Objectives
To achieve the aim of the PostGraduate Diploma Programme in Geotechnical & Coastal Engineering, the following under listed objectives will be pursued:
1. Sourcing of highly qualified resource persons from both the academic and industrial worlds to deliver knowledge filled and experienced based lectures.
2. Organization of conferences, seminars and workshops in the relevant areas of interest.

Candidates must have at least a third-class degree in Civil, Mechanical, Marine, or other related Engineering disciplines, as well as related disciplines in physical and environmental sciences.

MSc in Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering
MSc

Aim
The aim of the MSc programme in Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering and MSc programme in Coastal Technology Management is to prepare students for professional work in the respective Research areas or for further studies leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the relevant areas.

Objectives
To achieve the aim of the PostGraduate Diploma Programme in Geotechnical & Coastal Engineering, the following under-listed objectives will be pursued:
1. Sourcing of highly qualified resource persons from both the academic and industrial worlds to deliver knowledge-filled and experienced-based lectures.
2. Organization of conferences, seminars and workshops in the relevant areas of interest.
3. Providing Internship opportunities for interested students in recognized industries.

Candidates Must have one of the following:

  1. Second Class Lower Division in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering and physical science disciplines for M.Sc Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering.
  2. PGD in Civil, Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering, as well as other related Engineering disciplines (minimum CGPA of 3.00) for M.Sc in Geotechnical and Coastal Engineering.
  3. Second Class Lower Division in Engineering and other relevant Physical and Environmental science disciplines for M.Sc in Coastal Technology Management.
  4. PGD in Engineering or other related Physical and Environmental science disciplines (minimum CGPA of 3.00) for M.Sc in Coastal Technology Management.
